"The Passing of the Great Queen"

This custom dust jacket was inscribed by Major Roderick Mackenzie. It is addressed to The Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Augusta Caroline Charlotte of Great Britain (Augusta of Great Britain)(1822-1916) Daughter of Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge. Princess Augusta's father was Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge a brother to the Duke of Kent (Queen Victoria's father). A possible scenario is Marie gave it to Major Roderick Mackenzie, who intern planned on giving it to the Duchess. It is unknown whether the Duchess every received this gift.
